For a few months I was able to sell digital items on eBay. For the most part they were all eBooks. I actually was doing pretty good for a while, until April 1st, 2008. Apparently, eBay decided they were no longer going to allow the listing of digital items. This threw a wrench in the works for a lot of people.
I started browsing around eBay to see what other people were dong and noticed that people were relisting their digital items with a disclaimer that it was available via CD format as well. I thought to myself, well, it must be working, so I threw up some more auctions and made the same disclaimer only to get another warning from eBay that I can’t list these items any more. I also found out from the few that sold before I got shutdown again, that they no longer automatically send the download link to the buyer. I guess that makes since if they are no longer allowing digital listings, why would they. I was OK with manually sending out the links, if I could only find a way to keep my auctions up.
I’m not sure how other people are getting away with it since my listings are just about the same as theirs. They said I can use a “Classified Ad” but there is no bidding or feedback for those types of listings. It’s just informational with no way to bid for the item. And I believe it costs around $10 to list it compared to the $.25 I was spending before.
I’d love to continue listing my items on eBay if some one could point out the loop hole that I may be missing. I’d love to hear any feedback on how this is possible. Thanks!
